Lotte Kopecky will be one of the top favourites at the women's road world championships this afternoon. The Belgian is having a great season, but winning the road race in Glasgow has been her main goal this year. "I'm not satisfied yet," she said at a preview on Thursday.
Kopecky's victories this year include the Tour of Flanders, a stage and the points jersey at the Tour, and two gold and a bronze medal at the track world championships. Glasgow is a chance for her to end her season in style.
"It's the most important race of the season for me," she said. "I've been looking forward to it for a long time. I'm not satisfied yet and I'm in great shape. I showed that on the track."
Dutch supremacy
Her main rivals will be the Dutch, with Tour winner Demi Vollering, Lorena Wiebes, Marianne Vos and reigning world champion Annemiek van Vleuten. The Dutch have won five of the last six women's road races.
Last year, Kopecky won a silver medal but was left with a sour taste in her mouth. The twisty Glasgow course is more to her liking. "It's a fair track," she said on Thursday. "'I'm curious to see how it will go."
