Red Panthers beat Spain in final of Olympic qualifying tournament

The Belgian women's hockey team won the final of the Olympic qualifying tournament in Valencia on Saturday. The Red Panthers beat Spain 2-1 thanks to an impressive comeback in the final quarter, giving them an extra boost of confidence ahead of the Olympics.

Belgium had already qualified for the Olympics with a 3-2 win over Great Britain on Thursday, but the tournament was not over yet. The Panthers still had one more goal to achieve: to win the final against home team Spain.

Belgium were trailing for a while thanks to a goal from Sara Barrios. But with four minutes remaining, the Panthers took the lead thanks to two goals in quick succession from Louise Versavel and Charlotte Englebert.

The Belgian men's hockey team could add to Belgium's reputation as the European team to beat. The reigning Olympic champions will also face Spain in the final on Sunday at 18:00 Belgian time. They are already certain of their participation in the Olympics thanks to a 4-0 win over South Korea on Friday.
