After violating the Polish airspace with Belarusian helicopters, the "Wagner Group" mercenaries attempted to infiltrate.
On August 5, the Deputy Head of the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs, Pavlo Yablonsky, stated that "Wagner Group" fighters attempted to infiltrate Polish territory. According to him, the mercenaries demonstrate their impunity.
Earlier, it was reported that over 100 "Wagner Group" mercenaries approached the Suwalki Corridor (a 100 km shared border between Poland and Lithuania, which is strategic for NATO in terms of troop movement to the Baltic countries in case of war with Russia), and two helicopters crossed the Polish airspace from Belarus at a low altitude.
Thus, Russia's provocations through the territory of Belarus are escalating. Recently, one of the "Wagner Group" mercenaries reported that self-proclaimed President of the Russian Federation, A. Lukashenko, grants Belarusian citizenship to "Wagner Group" members and is also forming sabotage groups to infiltrate Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia.
The appearance of "Wagner Group" militants in Belarus is not accidental. It is not a result of Prigozhin's conspiracy or Lukashenko's decision, but rather a component of the Kremlin's strategic and tactical plan. Therefore, NATO countries should not underestimate this threat.
Currently, over 10,000 "Wagner Group" mercenaries are concentrated in Belarus, and the country recently received the 14th convoy with maritime containers, which may contain heavy weaponry brought from Wagner PMC camps in Syria or African countries. Therefore, it is not excluded that the mercenaries will be involved in a breakthrough from Belarus through the Suwalki Corridor to the Kaliningrad Oblast.
Russia frequently violates NATO's airspace over the Baltic Sea with Su-27 and Su-30 aircraft, as well as reconnaissance planes with deactivated digital identification. This means that NATO's ground control cannot track them. Therefore, Russian aircraft might enter the commercial aviation corridors of NATO countries and cause collisions with passenger airliners.
Thus, through provocations against NATO countries, Russia strengthens its negotiating positions on Ukraine, as it fears the Ukrainian Armed Forces advancing to the Sea of Azov. Today, the Ukrainian army's counteroffensive is proceeding successfully, so Russia is trying to create problems directly on NATO's eastern borders.
Therefore, NATO countries need to completely isolate and close their borders with Belarus and Russia, which will continue to provoke Alliance member states. Russia only understands the "language of strength." NATO's response to the escalation of Russian provocations should be providing Ukraine with long-range weapons and modern fighter aircraft.
