On the morning of September 11, the Ukrainian Armed Forces occupied a part of the village of Opytne in Donetsk Oblast, which had been under Russian occupation since November last year.
This settlement is located 3 km from the well-known Donetsk airport, and until 2014, when Russia started fighting in the Ukrainian Donbas, Opytne was considered an elite suburb of Donetsk. This means that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have come close to the part of Ukrainian territory that was occupied by the Russians in 2014. Ukraine's defenders are also making progress in other areas, including Volnovakha, near Novomayorske, and are steadily advancing south of Robotyno in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, covering an average of 1 km per day. These successes have been praised by top Western officials: following Kurt Volker, Victoria Nuland noted that the Ukrainian counteroffensive is impressive.
The successive achievements of Ukrainian soldiers have naturally strengthened support from the West. Putin, who launched a war of aggression in the 21st century, left no one under the illusion that the Russian army would inevitably come to Europe if it was not stopped in Ukraine. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have proven their superiority on the battlefield: they are constantly advancing despite the fact that it is always harder to attack than to defend. Ukraine's defenders are overcoming minefields, destroying the first echelons of the Russian defense, and destroying Russian armored vehicles. Russian dugouts in some parts of the combat line are destroyed to the point of being beyond repair. This is the best proof that Ukraine is capable of defending not only itself but also Europe. The only thing we need for this is modern Western weapons, because Putin understands only the language of force.
The West reacts with lightning speed to the success of the Ukrainian counteroffensive: the trend of growing support for Ukraine is steadily increasing. Kyiv has received two very positive signals: the possible delivery of long-range ATACMS missiles by the United States, as well as the accelerated delivery of F-16 fighters - Ukraine can use them in combat this winter. In addition, it has been reported that Ukraine and Sweden will jointly produce CV-90 infantry fighting vehicles, and the energy infrastructure in Ukrainian cities will be protected by German-made Gepard air defense systems. Thanks to the West, the Ukrainian army has become armed with the latest technology and is inflicting more and more tangible defeats on the Russians. This is the best time to increase the supply of necessary weapons to Ukraine: Putin should not have even a vague hope of revenge: the Russian occupation army, which dreams of reaching the English Channel, must be crushed in the Ukrainian steppes.
