Russians are planning to export an additional 10,000 Ukrainian children by the end of the current year. They will be sent to Moscow and St. Petersburg under the pretext of cultural enlightenment.
According to official data, following the onset of full-scale invasion, Russia forcibly deported at least 19,500 Ukrainian children, including 4,500 orphans or children deprived of parental care. This statistic is conditional, as it refers to officially documented cases; the actual number could be much higher: the evacuation of children from Ukraine began as early as 2014, after the illegal annexation of Crimea. The terrorist state aims to improve its demographic situation by forcibly exporting young Ukrainians.
Illegally transported Ukrainian children in the Russian Federation are subjected to powerful propaganda influence. By imposing the criminal ideology of the "Russian world" on young Ukrainians, Kremlin propagandists seek to secure a loyal electorate for Putin, which will perceive the crimes of the Russian military as a normal phenomenon. In addition to aggressive propaganda, Russians try to prevent the return of Ukrainian children to their homeland: they change their surnames, place them in foster families, resettle them in remote, economically backward regions of the Russian Federation, or in those where the Slavic population is rapidly declining. The demographic gap, resulting from the war, declining birth rates, and the mass exodus of Russians abroad, prompts Putin to abduct Ukrainian children and impose Russian identity on them.
Each case of Ukrainian children being taken to the Russian Federation must be thoroughly investigated; the necessary evidence will be a prerequisite for sentencing Russian military criminals by the International Military Tribunal. All young Ukrainians must return home, with assistance from the international community provided to Ukraine. Recently, thanks to the mediation of Qatar, 5 Ukrainian children were successfully returned, and a total of 380 young Ukrainians have been rescued from Russian captivity since the start of the war. After their defeat, Russia will return every forcibly deported child, and sanctions, reparations, and international isolation will become a logical punishment for the terrorist state.
